Lead UX and UI designer

REQUEST CASE STUDY

CHALLENGE

Enhance brand engagement by extending Trek’s ethos of “unreasonable hospitality” to a digital platform for riders.

APPROACH

We built a ride tracking platform leveraging Trek’s strengths to help riders find great places to ride, help them find their way on the bike, and reward them for the riding they do. Sticky features keep riders engaged, and increase visits to their local Trek retailer.

Impact

BEACHHEAD

Starting behind competitors like Specialized and Cannondale, the Ride Club launch got Trek in the digital game.

REACH

Despite a soft launch in only one market, millions of miles were recorded in only the first six months.

STICKINESS

Rider usage (MAU) was assessed as meaningfully higher than other platforms in the space.

Beyond the basics

BRANDED UI

Convinced the organization to shift the look-and-feel, evolving the digital product design language to better align with Trek’s brand.

DESIGN SYSTEM

Developed a comprehensive suite of mobile app UI components and patterns, including building an app typographic system.

VISION

Concepted features several generations out to push the organization toward more innovation and craft.
